Biology Collection 1: Brenden Arnold

Stem-Woody: This is a wood stem from a plant in my backyard. Clearly, the stem is made of wood and isn't as flexible as an herbaceous stem.
Stem-Herbaceous: This flower stem is herbaceous because it is green, pliant, and directly supports the rest of the plant.
Pollinator: This bee is a pollinator because when it lands on a flowers to collect nectar, it spreads pollen from one to another.
Insect: This is an insect I found in my backyard. I know it's an insect because it has three pairs of legs and two pairs of wings.
Exoskeleton: I took a picture of this spider because it has an exoskeleton. The spider's skeleton supports and protects itself from the exterior of the body.
Dicot Plant with flower and leaf: This plant is a dicot because it has four flowers per stem.
Deciduous Leaf: This leaf is deciduous because the bush it grows from loses all of its leaves seasonally.
Conifer Leaf: This is a tree with conifer leaves growing from it in my backyard. The leaves stay there year-round.
Animal that has a segmented body: Ants have segmented bodies. However, I don't have a very good camera, so I decided it would be better to take a picture of the ant hole.
Adaptation of a plant: This represents adaptation because plants don't naturally grow in plastic pots.

  1. Clever to photograph the ant hole rather than the ant. Two things: Dicots have petals in groups of fours or fives, not leaves. Also, your plant adaptation has to be specific. Just saying that a plant can grow in a pot is not specific enough. And remember not to confuse and evolutionary adaptation with adapting or adjusting the environment. These are two very different things.
